
The Danny Faure Foundation Ocean Innovation Award
The Danny Faure Foundation is excited to announce its first Ocean Innovation Award. The awardee will benefit from a 5-day learning visit at Nekton, UK to advance his/her project or idea.
Are you a Seychellois citizen and above 18 years and
Are you involved in ocean-related activities professionally or personally?

Are you interested to understand, raise awareness or protect the ocean better?
or
Do you want to launch a different and original startup in the blue economy?

Are you looking for support to scale up your ideas or project?

Apply with a video for the Ocean Innovation Award
Application process: We would like you to submit a video created using a camera or smart phone. The video should be 7 mins maximum in length and the deadline is 15th January 2023. We would like to hear about your idea in the following format.
CRITERIA/CONTENT FOR VIDEO APPLICATION:
1. Introduce yourself:
Name, age, profession or what you do on a daily basis
1.Explain your idea/project:
What do you want to do, how long have you been working on it, is it a pilot not proven yet, have you already developed plans, is the concept proven and you want to scale it up;
2.Explain the impact of your idea/project:
How does it solve a problem for a community and / or the ocean, what does success look like in 1 year and 3 years, how do you measure success, how do you scale impact;
3.Explain the innovation of your idea/project:
Originality, have you heard of something similar before and if so how is yours different, what is the positive impact for the ocean, the community, will you employ media or art
4. Explain the opportunity your idea/project provides:
Will there be opportunities for the community and the ocean generated by your project and if so what kind.
5. Explain your strategy/plan for your idea/project to be a success:
Mention your specific skills you see as your strengths and explain how you will use these, how will you obtain the skills you miss but need, do you have relevant experience, discuss your previous involvement in similar projects and related work experiences, how long have you been working on this, have you taken any courses or taken any actions to turn your idea/project in reality, are you part of a network or do you know of one you will join to increase the success and impact of your project.
6. Clarify your time availability to develop your idea and or implement your project:
Are you able to commit a portion of your time to this project over the next year, can you adjust your personal schedule to have enough time to implement your project;
7. How could the Ocean Innovation Award make a difference to your idea/project:
State what kind of support you need, do you need more practical skills, would you like to be coached how to present your idea/project, would you like others to join you?
IMPORTANT: Please make sure you follow these final notes for a successful submission:
- Your video should be no more than 7 minutes in total.
- The video should be submitted by WeTransfer to dannyfaurefoundation@gmail.com with a subject line that reads Ocean Innovation Award.
- If the video is uploaded to a sharing platform such as Vimeo or YouTube please send a valid link to dannyfaurefoundation@gmail.com by the deadline with the abovementioned subject line.
- If the video is to be handed in physically on a pen drive please come by our offices at The Link building, 4th Floor, Ile du Port , latest 3pm on January 15th 2023.
