My Leadership Journey

My Leadership Journey is an initiative of the Danny Faure Foundation with the aim of inspiring future generations to take up leadership roles. The project is a series of short interviews with personalities who have made an impact as leaders in their respective domain. It is in line with the Foundation’s strategic pillar which seeks to contribute towards promoting effective leadership and gender equality among a new generation of leaders in Africa.

The first series is a set of interviews with women in leadership and was launched on 8th March 2022 to coincide with International Women’s Day.

These included;

  • Mathilda Twomey – First woman to be appointed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Seychelles
  • Macsuzy Mondon – First woman to be appointed Designated Minister in the Cabinet of Ministers of a government in the Republic of Seychelles
  • Marie-Louise Potter – First woman to be appointed as Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly of the Republic of Seychelles
  • Caroline Abel – First Woman to be appointed as Governor of the Central Bank of Seychelles.

Series 2 of the programme interviewed people whose leadership is having an impact on environment conservation, environment protection, environment education and environment research. It was broadcast on 5th June 2022 to coincide with World Environment Day except that of Ambassador Thomson which was broadcast on 8th June 2022 to coincide with World Oceans Day.

These included;

  • Ambassador Peter Thomson – UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for the Oceans
  • Nirmal Jivan Shah – Environment Conservationist and CEO of Birdlife Seychelles
  • Helena Sims – Project Manager of the Marine Spatial Planning Initiative of Seychelles at The Nature Conservancy
  • Ms Jeanette Larue – Environment Educator and Director General for public education and community outreach in the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture.
