The Danny Faure Foundation (DFF) is thrilled to announce the winners of the ‘Voices of the Ocean’ competition, a short story competition that it launched on 24th January 2024.

The competition was designed to cultivate and empower young ocean advocates. Through the competition, the DFF aimed to ignite the imagination of children, encouraging them to critically reflect on the state of the ocean, its importance to humankind, the challenges that threaten its present and future state, and propose ocean solutions.

The competition consisted of the following two categories: Primary 3 to Primary 4 and Primary 5 to Primary 6.

With the valued support of the Seychelles’ Ministry of Education who assisted in disseminating information about the competition to all state and private primary schools, the DFF received a total of 73 essays.

An independent jury panel comprising of education professionals and individuals who have background in environment conservation judged the entries.

The winners are set to receive their prizes in a ceremony to be held on 6th June 2024. All participants will receive a certificate of participation from the DFF which will be delivered directly through the schools.
